She let us pick fresh produce from her farm to cook in her kitchen. We met Chie (the 3rd picture, the lady with a beautiful smile in the middle) who is the lovely owner of the place. In the pictures, we cycled from Kyoto to Nara (around 60km one way) in the middle of winter (so sooo very cold on the bicycles) and stayed at a farmhouse in the middle of the forest. We created The Mindful Tourist trainings and retreats with the aim to increase awareness of nature’s holistic healing powers and make the practice of Japanese Shinrin Yoku more easily accessible to a wider range of audiences. My co-founder, Milena (the one with the pink pom pom beanie – she’s so stylish! ) and I started The Mindful Tourist from the love and joy of hanging out in the woods, to promote the practice of Shinrin Yoku and bring awareness of the practice to people visiting Japan.
